The area features both public and private elementary schools as well as secondary schools nearby, catering to educational needs. Green spaces such as Davis Park are plentiful and well-distributed, providing peaceful outdoor areas. The neighborhood balances tranquility with vibrant social spots, especially along lively Academy Avenue. Housing options include a variety of sizes, from lofts to larger residences, predominantly in duplex and apartment building styles.

Valley is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this part of Providence. Valley is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor, although there are still several louder sections, especially closer to one of the railway lines. It is easy to get to public green spaces in the neighborhood since there are around 20 of them close by for residents to unwind in. Lastly, there are many energetic parts in this area to check out. Even though there are few nearby entertainment venues, there are often a large number of people around, and it is very easy to find bars since they are well-distributed throughout the area. Main streets, like Academy Avenue, are excellent for those who enjoy going out.
